The 1950s were a time of great racial division in America, but when Jesse Brown, the Navy’s
first black aviator, was shot down over North Korea, his wingman Tom Hudner did the
unthinkable to save him and crashed his own plane into the same mountain.
The Bong Center is pleased to welcome EAA program director Chris Henry during Black
History Month on Tuesday, February 21 st at 6:30 to share the true story of Ensign Jesse Brown
and his wingman Thomas Hudner. Their story was recently depicted in the film ‘Devotion’, and
their plane is on exhibit at EAA.
