“VERY GOOD!! my son, wife and I went to this museum and we loved it. so much information provided on the documentary videos showing at the small theaters. incredible items throughout the space. the gift shop is well supplied with many interesting military stuff, the lady at the shop desk can be a little more welcoming to visitors and smile more. other than that, this is a great place, we’ll come back!!”
“If you find yourself near Duluth you should definitely pay a visit. If you're not in the area...then by all means get in the area and pay a visit! Obviously a tribute to the greatest ace of WWII and the P-38 as well. I left with a far greater understanding of the great deeds (medal of honor recipient, etc...) and symbolic importance of R. Bong.
Lots of news clippings, info cards and props to view...be sure and take your time and read them...it's cool!
There's a restored (I don't think to flying condition though) Lockheed P-38 Lightning (with beautiful image of Marge on the side) in the lower floor (2 stories) of the building. The aircraft is beautiful and a very impressive restoration project! There's also several areas to watch some really cool video footage as well. The set-props are really well laid out and give a good idea of being in the Pacific theater.
A real enjoyable visit for sure! Be sure and pay a visit to one of America's true war heros.”
“Very cool military museum mostly dedicated to the life of Richard Bong, an Army Air Forces major and Medal of Honor recipient during WWII. He is credited with shooting down a record 40 Japanese aircraft, all with the Lockheed P-38. He died test piloting a jet fighter shortly before the war ended. There are many monuments, streets, bridges, etc..named in his honor. This is a very nice military museum. There are exhibits of other wars with great exhibits.”
“This is a great museum. It has great family information. I especially liked the Audio/Video overviews of the events leading up to different parts of the wars. Very good reminders to us all of the sacrifices that so many men and women have made to make our country free. I highly recommend enjoying a visit here.”
“A lot of thoughtful historical information to entertain everyone! I really appreciated the personal stories they shared along with great memorabilia. We easily enjoyed 2 hours there and there is still more to see. We will definitely go back!”
